CMERA’s executive committee has decided to cancel the in-person Fall 2021 membership meeting. In making this decision, we considered the recent spike in Covid cases and high level of community spread, the fact that many of our members are vulnerable to serious illness, and the difficulties of managing an indoors meeting in accordance with Covid guidelines.
Our meetings are so important because they give us a chance to keep you updated with important information. But another aspect that is every bit as important involves all the interactions and networking that happens in the hallways and social areas, while registering or paying your dues, over a cup of coffee and donuts, and in the main church area while waiting for the formal meeting to start. This year we found ourselves trying to figure out ways to prevent people from waiting in lines or lingering in hallways, as well as how to seat people apart from each other. And we knew we would need to minimize the total time we all spent together indoors. In other words, a meeting this fall would be nothing like our meetings of the past.
So, we are going to do the same thing we did in spring: record a Zoom presentation with our information on the current events and things CMERA has been working on. Watch your email for a message on [email protected], or check www.cmera.org/news any time after October 9, 2021, for information on how to view the recording. We know it is not ideal, but we believe it’s the safest option for us at this time. And let’s all look forward to Spring 2022, and hope for better pandemic news by then!
